Editorial: Everybody's talking about Religion, but nobody's talking about God....

In the shadow of the Muslim Mosque being built on Ground Zero, and the awakening of the scandel of Bishop Eddie Long, it seems that Religion is the Hot Topic of late. Just recently there was a survey taken across America asking folks how much do they know about Religion. They asked questions concering the Koran, The Gospels, Martin Luther, Catholothisim, and much more. Surprisingly many didn't fair well. But my question is: In the midst of asking questions about history, general bible knowledge, and religious order, where was the question on how many people actually have a personal relationship with God? I have come to learn that no matter how much knowledge I have "about" God or Religion all that doesn't  mean anything if I don't know Him for myself.  And the only way to have a true relationship with Him is through His Son Jesus Christ. Paul commented on that in Acts 22 when he talks about how he sat at the feet of Gamaliel, and how he was thought by the far most scholars, and how he even killed Christians, but all that didn't mean anything after he had an encounter with Jesus on the Road to Damascus. He also talks to the Corithians (1 Corinthians 2: 1-2) about how the only thing he wants to know from them is Jesus Christ and Him crucified. That being said, with all the questions asked in the survey, how many of them know God. But I guess that's how it goes when you are dealing with secular moralism. But the bright spot of all this is that this survey is paving the way for Christians to spark up a real conversation about God and truely Knowing Him. Also what does it have to say for those that got even the basic questions about Religion wrong? Are we on a moral decline? If you don't even know how many books of the Gospels there are then you may really have to evaluate your religious insight. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to portray my self as being a biblical or religious scholar, or as one that has the private number to God's personal line, but I do know that I try my best as to not only know about Him but also know Him and I would love for everyone to share in the experience I have in experincing and knowing God's love first hand. But it is going to take more than a survey for them to have that. Like I said, it is good that we are discussing Religion, but how long will the conversation go on till we are discussing knowing God....
