There was a story of a young girl who posted a status on Facebook about her wanting to drink alcohol and she was a minor(under the age of 15) so her mother made her write a note, take a picture with it, and post it to her Facebook saying that she is under age, she is sorry for posting that, and she also apologized for embarrassing and disrespecting her family. I personally thought that that was a GREAT punishment for the minor. Another story that I can recently recall reading was about 2 young girls that came up missing and when they were found, their parents also made them write a note, take a picture with it, and post it to Facebook saying that they decided they wanted to be grown, not listen to their parents, and not go to school. Again, my opinion is that it was a GREAT punishment for them as well.
I can remember yet ANOTHER story about a young man who's uncle had whipped him on video for posting on Facebook that he was a gangsta. The uncle had went even as far as posting his video to Facebook showing the uncle whipping his nephew and telling his nephew to say that he was NOT a gangsta and he does go to school to learn and make good grades. The young man went back to school and began getting bullied and laughed at for the video that his uncle posted. The young man fought some of the kids that were causing the trouble at his school and he ended up being killed.
Is social media going too far? Is it the entertainment industry fault for showing these types of videos, dancing, and lavish lifestyles that make these kids want what they are seeing on TV? Is that a good punishment for teens to embarrass them on the SAME sites that they are using to get attention, meet people, embarrass themselves, their families, community, etc..? Was this father wrong for NOT wanting his daughters to be looked at as young whores, to be taken advantage of, possibly rapped and killed? He could've seen this type of lifestyle in his surroundings and vowed to NOT let any of the women in his family repeat that cycle. Maybe in his mind he had planned on raising his daughters to become nice, hard working, respectful, well educated young women with a bright future and when he saw his little girls doing the complete opposite, he flipped...IJS!
