Editorial: Why Fantasia Why???

A few weeks ago we were stunned with the news that Season 3 American Idol Winner Fantasio Barrino had been rushed to the hospital for an apparent suicide attempt. Now, spectulation has arisen that this was done because of her relationship with her boyfriend that alleges that she is with him even though he is married and she couldn't handle the press that the relationship was receiving. If this is apparently the case (in which she confirmed in recent interviews that it is) the question that I have is, Why Fantasia Why? This young lady you would think with all her fortune, fame and singing ability, would know better than to even attempt to be in a relationship of this type knowing that every news hound and camera jockey is waiting to pop this story in order for them to profit and for her to gain pain.  An I am sure she was surrounded by many advisors who told her that this situation is not going turn out well, but still she chose to go her own path. And the Biggest thing to me that stands out with this situation is; If you watched the Fantasia Story on Life Time you know that she was raised in a very God Centered Family. She grew up singing in her family's Gospel Group, even leading songs sometimes. An even when she did  a couple of BET's Celebration of Gospel she participated in singing Gospel Numbers, one even with her mother (a strong Christian influence) on the most recent one. My point is, that she as you would think has a relationship with God and has a family in which I know prays for her constantly, so why in God's name would she opt to turn to taking her life rather than turning to the one she calls Her God. I can testify myself that God can and will deliver you out of any situation that you are in if you just have faith in Him that He will, and I am sure Ms. Barrino is aware of this as well with her Christian upbringing an all. But is her life that unimportant to her that she would soon rather take it herself than face the music and show her strength in the time of trial. And if she is worried about Public Image, she should have thought about that before she got involved with this young man. I can't tell you exactly what was going through Fantasia's head at the time of this suicide attempt and what she was feeling on the inside, but I do know that no matter how bad it gets, taking your life is not the way out. Sometimes we choose the paths that we take and when we wander down that road and things aren't seeming to be going our way or the path seems a little bit rocky, its always best to stay the course because sooner or later the road does get smoother. But if you choose to give up and just end it all or stand in one spot, you will never know what's at the end of the road ahead of you only what was behind. I don't know what the future holds for Fantasia after this situation, but I sincerley hope it holds life and better decision making....
