My Journey Back To School
Going back to school has been something on my to do list for awhile now but I was always busy with family, working, and perfecting my craft(singing,songwriting) and was never able to commit to going back. I attempted several times to start, and even enrolled a few times too but something always came up where I couldn't commit to my schedules. Well, this time around I decided to and became very determined to do something for ME. I felt like I had put my wants and goals on hold long enough.
My first challenge was getting all of my transcripts sent to N.O. from California. I had to contact both schools repeatedly to assure the exchange of information was fully completed. As I waited on the delivery of the transcript, I began doing research on different schools and the programs and schedules they have in my area.
Once I decided what I wanted to study, I began meeting with advisers on what classes to take that goes with my major which is Music.
I ran into a few bumps in the road during my application and financial aid process nevertheless I remained focused and dedicated to my plan of continuing and furthering my education to guarantee a better lifestyle for my children and I. One of my fears was starting all over. Even though I had set out so long I didn't want to have to start all over again knowing that I had already completed some courses. Another fear was not being able to keep up with younger students or not being able to pick up the lessons as quickly because I been out of school so long. Well, I happy to report that as of Aug 19, 2013, I am currently enrolled in college and set my classes and schedule according to my availability. I have met some awesome people already and to my surprise, people whether young or old have been very supportive and eager to assist me as needed. Yep, I am getting it DONE and NOTHING is gonna stop ME!
