OFCI Report Editorial: Everybody is Talking about Greater, but Nobody is Talking about God..

Lately I have been hearing songs and watching "Christian" programming and they all seem to be focusing on one aspect of living the Christian life and that is receiving Greater or Blessings from God. Now before I get in to this I want to say that I do believe God wants us to be blessed and I do believe He wants us to live a Joyous and Happy life. But what I don't believe in is focusing on the one aspect of just receiving a Blessing from God when there is more to the Christian experience than just getting Money, Houses, Cars, or Land or anything material.  What I say is People want more of what is in God's hand than what is in God's heart for them. Now that being said, There is nothing wrong with receiving Greater, or having Greater or obtaining Greater, but the big question is what is you motive to wanting the greater. In my observation I have noticed that to many people in today's life and time are just going through the motions and just playing church. And you know it is true because the bible speaks about those having "itching ears" and wanting to hear Smooth Things and not receive the Meat of the word. They are religious and don't seem to want to live an actual Godly life or live "For" God, but they want the benefits of having gone to church every Sunday. And lets not talk about the preachers who are spreading this propaganda of getting rich and receiving blessings. They make it seem that all you have to do is give God a couple of bucks and He is satisfied and you get Blessed. Also, it gives the impression that you are able to "Buy" your way into Heaven.  But it goes much deeper than that. There is actually Living Holy, Ministry, Witnessing, actually Reading the Bible to learn more about God and having an actual Relationship. How do you even phantom people wanting what God can give them without wanting Him. But it is happening. People having a form of Godliness but denying the power thereof. And like I said, they are talking about greater and leaving God out. You can't have greater or be greater without Him anyway. And what bothers me the most is people want God to bless them, Anoint them, Shower down Blessing (have Him do All the work) and they do nothing for him. They don't witness, they don't work in ministry, they don't even try to live holy, but they want God to give them something...It's like, God Bless Me For Doing Nothing. We need to get this right and show people that Life is more than Getting Greater with the wrong motives. You need and should get to know God and realize what life is really all about. Seek First His Kingdom and his righteousness and  as you say "Greater will be added unto you. For some and many reasons I believe many people don't understand what it really means to have a relationship with God and His requirements for having one. As a result they shy away from it either out of fear or resentment to do so. That is why as Ministry workers we have to be sure that as we teach people the bible that we are doing more than talking at them, but also talking to them and teaching them the word in context.  It's more than hooping, and getting them hyped, and emotional, it is about them learning the word and being doers also and not just hearers. We have to do a better job of not producing Carnal Christians. If we are going to get them to receive Greater, lets get them to Have God along with it.
