OFCI Report: In the know with Ed.....Occupy This!
It seems to me like the Occupy movement is a whole lot of people, who have something, pretending to have nothing, so they can get more of what they claim they don't already have. What would happen if they used all of that useful time, energy, resources and talents to start small independent businesses that would make an impact in the communities they seek to occupy? It disturbs me to see donations of food, money, services and other resources diverted from people who are truly homeless and needy provided to those who voluntarily wish to be become militant urban outdoorsmen with a cause. It disturbs me to see that people actually have chosen to support those who could support themselves even while they have neglected the needs of those who have lived out their desperate lives in front on them for years, without them ever having lifted a finger to help those people. What would happen if the Occupy movement would donate all of their donations to the homeless who occupied the streets before them? Surely, there are political, financial and social injustices in this nation. Surely we have a right and some say an obligation to speak out against injustice. But while the Occupy movement puts on a show for the media, millions live out a real life drama of desperation the 'movement' largely ignores with its 'direct actions'. But no wonder, communities have already ignored them for decades. Could it be that after the '99%' steal the bulk of what is out there for the needy, the Occupy movement comes along to take the '1%' what is left? I googled 'occupy charities', 'occupy charity' and 'occupy giving'...No results. Then I googled 'occupy donations' and found several opportunities to feed the 'movement'. Enough said!
