OFCI Report: The Lesson of the Red Light
Just the other day I was riding on my way home out here in Houston, an as I was making my way driving down the road, as usual several cars came flying down the highway passing me up to get to their destination. Now I don't know what it is out here in H-Town, but it seems that every driver out here likes to drive fast and pass the speed limit just to be first or in front of the traffic line like (as I say) they are little kids and have to beat everybody. I understand that in many cases there are drivers that drive a little slow and you just don't want to be behind them, there may be an emergency, or you just want to get home. But out here like I said, these people seem to do it because they just have to be first. Anyway, as we were riding and the cars came speeding by, I kept my driving pace and as we approached the Red Light...both the cars speeding and I managed to catch the same light. After that moment God begin to speak to me and reveal a lesson that was o so important about life from this situation from the traffic light. He begin by having me understand that just like the speeding cars, many of us try to speed through life trying to be first, obtain the best, or just be on top. We rush ourselves to get to a specific place or just to get ahead and many time by doing this it has very bad consequences from doing so, because by going so fast we may not have time to avoid the many things that may come from us trying to be "First". Such as Sickness (accidents), Missing out on things more important that you could be doing and regreting it (running red lights and getting tickets), or even Just being able to stop and enjoy life now or in your old age because you just gotta have it (not being able to hit breaks fast enough and demolishing your car). But the most important lesson I believe that he showed me was....that even though the other cars was going sigificantly faster that I was, we still reach the same red light and had to stop. In other words, you don't have to rush through life to get where you want to go. You should take your time sometimes and enjoy life and reach your goals. Just like the cars speeding ahead of me, all it did was get them to the red light before every other car, it didn't get them to the green light where they could just cruise through, but time again as we drove, all they did was hit red lights and stopped. As I, even though I caught the red light, my wait wasn't as long as their's because I took my time to get there and as I approached the light, it almost seemed that it turned green as soon as I spent a few seconds there...So what I am saying is, going fast through life doesn't always mean you are the best, it just means you are exactly that, first.....just like the drivers speeding, when you rush you may tend to do more harm to yourself than good.....now I am not saying don't have ambition, don't have drive, don't have get up and go about yourself, what I am saying is sometimes when you try to go to fast to either impress others, or out do others, you just may be cheating youself or damaging yourself by being in too much of a hurry...Take it from me....eventually you will get to the green light, but if you get there recklessly, you still have to stop anyways and handle your mess and you still held up. So why not just take your time, make sure everything is in order and then when the light does turn from red to green you can just drive straight through....
